Training

friendsWraparound Oregon offers a cross-system training academy through a contract with the Child Welfare Partnership at Portland State University. Trainings are offered to Wraparound Oregon team members as well as community stakeholders. All Wraparound Oregon trainings have focused on the participation and involvement of families. Efforts to increase the number of families involved in the planning and delivery of trainings continues to be a future focus.

The Wraparound Oregon Training priorities are:

  1. Build competencies of supervisors so they may provide skilled coaching and team leadership to facilitators, family partners, and community partners.
  2. Assure that families who participate in meetings receive support and preparation to take the driver's seat in their own planning - when ready - to contribute to the larger Wraparound Oregon planning process.
  3. Support professionals in the community who participate in child and family teams so they are clear about wraparound values and principles as well as practices.
  4. Provide ongoing education and training to executives and participating agencies to understand and commit to the principles of community-based, family-driven services.
  5. Assure through education and training that child and family services in Multnomah County are offering services and supports to families in keeping with the System of Care principles.

The training team has prioritized the following activities:

  1. Finalize list of recommended competencies and skill sets for each level, which includes team leaders/supervisors, facilitators, parent partners, community partners, executives, and the broader systems involved in Wraparound Oregon
  2. Develop training program that supports recommended competencies and skill sets. This includes procuring or developing curricula, develop local expertise and identify trainers.
  3. Assure that a comprehensive menu of training is in place for: families, supervisors, parent partners, facilitators, child and family team members, professionals potentially participating in Wraparound Oregon teams, professionals and executives from agencies across child-serving systems, legislators and policy makers.
  4. Provide leadership for the development of competencies for culturally - and linguistically responsive service delivery
Evaluate the overall effectiveness of training programs and use data to determine future and ongoing training needs
